kitchen table talks

Kitchen Table Talks were created to make space for women who identify as Asian, South Asian, Pacific Islander American to come together in community with each other.  The focus of the gatherings are determined by the attendees but are always grounded in the sharing of food and social connection.  Some have a featured guest or are intended to share information about local activities and advocacy.

We aim to hold gatherings quarterly and in various locations when possible.

"People of color need their own spaces... We need places in which we can gather and be free from the mainstream stereotypes and marginalization that permeate every other societal space we occupy. We need spaces where we can be our authentic selves without white people’s judgment and insecurity muzzling that expression. We need spaces where we can simply be—where we can get off the treadmill of making white people comfortable and finally realize just how tired we are."
